Job Description

Summary: Purchase and process all incoming non-ferrous and ferrous scrap metal. All metals must be prepared to ensure that they meet the standard to be shipped to our buyers. This includes the purchasing of scrap vehicles in accordance with state and local regulations.

Essential Responsibilities:

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Must possess basic mechanic understanding of vehicles and equipment.
• Capable of following explicit instructions with no deviations.
• Must be capable of working with power, pneumatic and manual tools to perform assigned duties.
• Must be capable of following the dismantling checklist for scrap autos to ensure that all batteries, mercury switches, catalytic converters, wiring harness and aluminum rims are removed.
• When preparing scrap auto for processing, you must drain all fluids (i.e. gas, engine oil, transmission oil, drive train oils etc.) from the vehicle prior to designating them for demolition. This process is most critical and failure to perform your duties could result in injury or death.
• Assist the Scrap Metal Manager in the processing of both ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
• You will be required to perform labor duties to include but no limited to the sorting of metals, shearing of copper/brass, stripping of wire, baling of light sheet iron, and baling of aluminum cans.
• During peak season (December - March) extended hours may be required due to the necessity of processing as much iron as possible.
• Keep dismantling area clean, organized and free of all trash daily. Ensure that any and all spills are cleaned up immediately. At no time will any fluids from the vehicles be allowed to leave the impervious service that you will be working on.
• Maintain good housekeeping in all areas designated as "Recycling Areas" and assist in other recycling operations as directed.

Required Skills:

• Capable of lifting at least 60 pounds.
• Forklift Qualified.
• Bobcat Qualified a plus.
• Customer Service Oriented.
• High mathematics understanding.

Hours:

• Part Time Position - Work flexible daily 4 hour schedule, Monday through Friday, Saturday work as required.

Wage:

• $16 - $20 based on experience.
