Cordia Resources is currently seeking an experienced  Accountant  with expertise in General Ledger (GL) accounts. Public company and Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) experience is preferred. Title: Accountant
Location: Hybrid - Bethesda, MD
Job Type:  Contract to Hire

As an Accountant you will play a vital role in maintaining and reconciling GL accounts, ensuring financial accuracy, and supporting compliance efforts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, GL accounts, and a willingness to learn and adapt to the unique demands of a public company environment.

Responsibilities:

• Perform month-end and year-end GL account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
• Record and maintain journal entries related to GL accounts, including accruals, prepayments, and adjustments.
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve accounting discrepancies and variances.
• Support the annual audit process, including the provision of audit schedules and documentation.
• Assist in the implementation and maintenance of internal controls and SOX compliance efforts.
• Contribute to process improvements in GL accounting to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Stay updated with accounting standards, regulations, and industry best practices.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. CPA or equivalent certification is a plus.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on GL accounts.
• Familiarity with public company financial reporting and SOX compliance is preferred.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and precision.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
